Oakland Is More Than a Place on the Map. It's a Community.

Oakland is more than an address. It's the music, the murals, the neighborhood businesses, the family traditions, the artists, and the people who give the city its character.

It's the small businesses people recommend without hesitation. It's the community organizers putting together events. It's the creators documenting everyday life and the entrepreneurs building something from the ground up.

And it's the connections that happen when people show up for one another.

A city can be full of opportunities and still make those opportunities difficult to find. Events get buried in social feeds. Small businesses compete for attention. Talented people work in the same neighborhoods without ever meeting each other.

What would it look like if discovering what was happening around us became easier?

Imagine finding a local market, meeting a creator whose work you admire, discovering a new Black-owned business, or connecting with somebody who shares your next big idea.

These don't have to be huge moments. Sometimes one introduction is enough to get something started.

That is one reason building community locally matters. Before a network can feel meaningful across a whole country, it can start by helping people connect where they are.

On Us is beginning with that spirit: creating opportunities for people, creators, and businesses to find one another, starting with the communities closest to home.

Because community isn't just something we talk about. It's something we build through participation, support, and showing up.

Oakland has never lacked culture, creativity, or people with ideas. There's power in making those people easier to find.

THE NEXT GREAT CONNECTION COULD BE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER.
