You Don't Need a Million Followers to Make an Impact

Let's be honest: the internet can make it feel like you need thousands of followers, perfect lighting, expensive equipment, and a viral moment before anybody takes you seriously.

You don't.

Some of the most influential people in our communities aren't internet celebrities. They're the person everybody calls for recommendations, the photographer who keeps showing up for local events, the artist whose work deserves a bigger audience, and the creator who makes a few hundred people feel seen.

Influence isn't only about numbers. It's about connection.

A smaller audience that genuinely trusts you can be more valuable than a massive audience that barely knows who you are. Real relationships create opportunities for collaboration, referrals, partnerships, and growth.

That doesn't mean numbers never matter. Reach can open doors. But it shouldn't be the only thing that determines who gets an opportunity.

Emerging creators deserve room to experiment, share their work, meet collaborators, and grow alongside people who appreciate what they bring to the table.

And communities benefit when we make room for more than the same handful of familiar faces.

At On Us, we believe discovery should create opportunities for everyday people, independent creators, and community voices, not just accounts that have already made it.

You don't have to wait until you're famous to contribute something meaningful.

Start creating. Share your work. Connect with people who get what you're building. Support somebody else's vision, too.

Your audience might be smaller than you want right now. Your impact doesn't have to be.

KEEP GOING. Your people need to find you, too.

On Us is a Black-centered community platform built to connect people, culture, creativity, businesses, and resources. Everyone who respects the purpose of the space is welcome to participate.

Free for community members.
